Playing politics
This refers to the news that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has lashed out at human rights activists and local media for not reacting to the killing of a youth in Sopore town of Baramulla district. I wonder why the Chief Minister is angry over the issue when the incident was reported in the press and also on TV channels. To blame militants for the killing is not the job of people but the government if it is sure that the crime has been committed by militants. How can the local media and human rights activists or for that matter ordinary people start blaming militants when they don’t know who has committed the crime. Every crime is a matter of investigation and people have no right to start blaming anyone unless they are sure who has committed it. Same holds true with all crimes taking place in Kashmir. I don’t think the people of Kashmir have maintained silence on any killing. Even killings by militants have been condemned, the recent one being the killing of a girl in Sopore. Let the Government not play politics over the issue.
