Formulate area specific development plans: Speaker

Srinagar, July 2: Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Muhammad Akbar Lone on Saturday directed the Public Health Engineering (PHE) and Roads and Buildings (R & B) departments to pace up work on all ongoing developmental projects under execution in Sonawari Constituency. 
 The Speaker issued the directions during his extensive tour to various villages included Nowgam Gounchipora and Najian of Sonawari Constituency after he took stock of various developmental works under execution.
 On the occasion, the Speaker asked the R&B authorities to take up the renovation and metalling work of the damaged Gounchipora link road, higher secondary road Gadikhod and Najan Panchayat road besides levelling of premises of Imambada, Najian on priority.
  Addressing series of public meetings, the Speaker said several major and minor water supply schemes have been sanctioned to end the drinking water scarcity in Sonawari Constituency.
 He directed the concerned PHE officers to complete 88,000 gallon capacity Over Head Tank (OHD) at Nowgam casting Rs. 57 lakh within two months so that drinking water facility would be provided to the people of Nowgam, Murtzabagh, Gounchipora and Shiganpora villages.
 He asked the officials to use funds judiciously and prepare development plans as per the local needs.
 “It is responsibility of the people to maintain a vigil on the development works under execution in their respective areas so that quality parameters are ensured,” he said.
