Zaffar welcomes CBMs on cross LoC trade, travel
Srinagar, July 29: The Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement chairman, Zaffar Akbar Bhat on Friday welcomed the Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) announced by Pakistan and India with regard to cross LoC trade and travel.
Addressing public at Yarikhah, Khansahib, in Budgam district of central Kashmir, Zaffar said, he had always been supporting the dialogue process but “it has to be sustained and time-bound exercise to achieve the desired goal”.
He urged the Government of India to withdraw troops, revoke draconian laws like Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and Public Safety Act (PSA) and release all detained Hurriyat leaders and activists.
Zaffar paid rich tributes to Shaheed Shabir Ahmed Ganai on his 17th martyrdom anniversary. He said Shabir Ahmad, Shams-ul-Haq, Maqbool Ellahi, Burhandin and other martyrs had laid their lives for the just cause. He said the martyrs’ sacrifices would not be allowed to go waste.
Zaffar strongly condemned the re-arrest of political leaders including Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Qazi Yasir and other youth under black law and demanded their immediate release. Bhat also expressed concern over the killing of civilians in Sopore by unidentified gunmen.
