Lakhanpur toll plaza to get grievance redress cell

Jammu, July 30: Excise and Commercial Taxes Complex, Jammu shall be made fully air conditioned to provide improved working conditions to the employees as well as traders community.
Orders to this effect were issued today by the Minister for Finance during his surprise inspection of the department.
The minister said though performance was up to the mark, still there was a need to maximize the recovery of revenue so that targets fixed are achieved well in time.
He took stock of the pace of computerization work of the commercial taxes department, which is a centrally sponsored under execution project scheduled to be completed by the month of October this year at a cost of about Rs. 28 crore.
He was pleased to see that dealers have started making use of computers to file there returns which was hither to done manually. “The computerization of C.T department would bring more transparency in the working of the department besides bringing accuracy in accounting and saving precious time,” he said, adding that computerization would also minimize direct interface between traders and employees.
The FM also reviewed present status on the construction of prestigious Rs 32 crore Lakhanpur Toll Plaza and instructed for its quick completion so that transporters and traders are provided relief from long traffic jams at this entry gateway to J&K.
He ordered for establishing a Grievances Redressal Cell at Lakhanpur Toll Plaza to solve the problems of traders, businessmen and transporters.
