Tax office celebrates 150th yr of Income Tax in India

Srinagar, July 30: The Income Tax Office at Rajbagh her today celebrated the 150th year of Income Tax in India.
The occasion was marked by the presence of the Commissioner of Income Tax, J&K Ravi Sarangal.
Sarangal while recalling the growth of Income Tax over the last 150 years hailed the contribution of Income Tax Department in “accelerating national development and helping the government in increasing social sector spending.”
It was resolved during the celebrations that apart from providing a quick redressal mechanism for long pending grievances, all out efforts would be made to enthuse increasing number of assessees to come forward and voluntarily file returns of income.
Among others present on the occasion was Amaresh Singh, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax at Srinagar, Shabir Handoo, Ghulam Mustafa, Manzoor Shah and B.K. Raina all Income Tax officers and other officials of the department.
Meanwhile, the occasion was also marked by a farewell ceremony. Bashir Ahmad Dar, Tax Assistant of the Department was accorded warm send off on his attaining superannuation.
