Education key for dev: Speaker
Srinagar, July 3: Maintaining that education holds key to all round development, Speaker, Muhammad Akbar Lone on Sunday said the coalition Government was determined to universalize higher education in the State.
Addressing public at Sumbal, the Speaker said opening of 20 more colleges in uncovered areas would facilitate the goal of taking higher education at the doorsteps of people. He said the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, would shortly lay foundation stone for Government Degree College, Sumbal.
This college, he said would facilitate education for the Sumbal as well as Hajin. He said such institutions would be opened in other areas also in due course of time.
Lone asked the people to maintain unity and keen vigil on execution of developmental works to ensure quality and judicious utilization of funds.
The Speaker felicitated people for their participation in the just concluded Panchayat polls, expressing hope that new Panchs and Sarpanchs would play their active role in policy formulation and implementation at gross root level.
