Seeks Inputs On Coalition Functioning

Srinagar, July 4: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Monday interacted with Congress activists and workers to lend ear to their views on coalition functioning.
“The Chief Minister will be regularly interacting with Congress workers at district level to ascertain their views for improving the coalition functioning and helping in successful implementations of development works across the state,” an official handout said.
At today’s meeting with Congress party office-bearers and workers from Kupwara and Baramulla districts, the Chief Minister highlighted the need for joint endeavour by National Conference and Congress to mitigate the difficulties of people on development front, the handout said.
“Both the parties believe in high principals of secularism and democracy and are staunch supporters of peace and development in the state”, the handout quoted the chief minister as saying.
According to the handout, the Chief Minister emphasized on unified efforts by the workers of both the parties to strengthen these principals and carry forward the agenda of peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.
The Chief Minister said that harmony in the functioning of both the parties is imperative to improve governance and reach out to the people in all areas.
Expressing satisfaction over the functioning of the coalition government, the Chief Minister said that last two and half years bear testimony of the cohesion existing between coalition partners in giving governance to the people and striving for all round development.
Omar said the unanimous decisions taken by the coalition government on development fronts and resolving issues of crucial nature and sensitivity also speak of the amity between the two partners.
Omar said he intends to listen to the views of Congress rank and file. “Our aim is to deliver on public service guarantee front more efficiently and meaningfully. The people have given mandate to the coalition partners to run the government and address public needs”, he said advising the workers of both the parties to live up to the expectations of people and highlight the difficulties of people at all relevant forums so that these are resolved promptly.
The Congress delegation included vice-president JKPCC, Ghulam Nabi Monga, General Secretary, Qazi Mehboob Ellahi, President Youth Congress Shoaib Nabi Lone, General Secretary Mahila Congress Shameema Sopori, District Congress Committee, President Kupwara, Muhammad Amin Khan, District President Baramulla Mushtaq Nowsheri and Working President Baramulla Aftab Ahmad Beg besides block presidents from Lolab, Trehgam, Ramhaal, Handwara, Qaziabad, Kupwara, Pattan, Kunzer, Sangrama, Baramulla, Uri, Dangiwachi, Ruhama, Zainageer, Sopore and Sheeri.
