Sham orders closure of private hospital

Srinagar, July 4: Minister for Health and Family Welfare,  Sham Lal Sharma Monday ordered closure of a private nursing home at Tangpora Byepass in the City while “noticing several deficiencies in its functioning”.
 An official handout said: “During the surprise visit to the health establishment, the management could not provide the requisite records pertaining to the registration of the nursing home, detail of doctors, para-medical staff engaged. The concerned institution was running without necessary formalities.”
 “He (Minister) ordered closure of the hospital and sealing of Ultrasound machine installed without proper registration,” it added.
 On the instructions of Minister, a pharmacist from Jawahar Nagar area, who was running a drug Store inside the hospital unauthorizedly, was arrested, the handout added. The drug store was also sealed.
 Meanwhile the minister gave 10 days time to a hospital at Chanapora to “fulfill the requisite formalities regarding renewal of registration and allied documentation mandatory as per the norms.”
