PSA slapped on Pampore youth
Protests rock saffron town
Pampore: Protests erupted in Namblabal and Drangbal areas of saffron town here on Tuesday against the slapping of Public Safety Act on a youth.
The protestors took to streets and blocked the Srinagar-Jammu highway demanding release of Bilal Ahmad Sofi son of Bashir Ahmad Sofi of Namblabal.
Shops at Drangbal and Namblabal Chowks in the town remained closed while one Sonaullah Wani was injured during clashes that erupted between the police and demonstrators during the protest. Locals said Bilal Ahmad was arrested few months ago and later released on bail by the Court.
The locals added that the youth was running his shop since last five months now.
Meanwhile, authorities said the youth was involved in many incidents of stone pelting and confirmed that he had been booked under PSA and was presently lodged at Kathua Jail.
