'Mass agitations highlighted K - issue'
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, July 6: The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik on Wednesday said the peaceful mass agitations in 2008, 2009 and 2010 put across message of Kashmiris’ to the world in a very effective and forceful way.
Expressing solidarity with the families of Fayaz Ahmad, Muzaffar Ahmad, Fancy Jan and Abrar Ahmad Khan, who fell to the bullets of forces on this day last year, Malik said, “July 6 is the most important day of the ongoing struggle. He said the mass movements of 2008, 2009 and 2010 were the living examples of Kashmiris’ peaceful struggle. It was a transition from violent to non-violent struggle. But it is unfortunate that instead of acknowledging this positive transition and providing suitable space for it, we are showered bullets, teargas shells and lathis and lodged in jails,” he said, adding that “Even after the lapse of one year now, our youth are arrested, jailed and subjected to physical and mental torture. The arrest of Bilal Ahmad Sofi of Namlabal, Pampore, is the case in point.”
Malik said 119 innocent civilians were killed in 2010 by the forces. He paid glowing tributes to the slain youth and reiterated his pledge to take their mission to its logical end.
