Garbage stinks Batamaloo, SMC yet to get whiff
Srinagar, July 5: The residents of Firdousabad Batamaloo are up in arms against the Srinagar Municipal Corporation accusing the civic body of failing to lift the trash from the congested area.
A delegation of the locals headed by the Batamaloo Welfare Committee President Abdul Kabeer Bhat aka Kabali said: “For the past around a fortnight, rotten piles of garbage and leftover are seen all along the road of Firdous Abad. Not a single Safai Karamchari is attending his duty as they are on strike for the reasons only known to them and the Ward office of the area.”
“It is peak summer this time, unbearable stench spreads all along and is so difficult to move on roadside without covering the nose and mouth,” Kabali said.
“Since the windows and doors of houses remain almost open in summers, insects like flies and mosquitoes have free entry in the homes,” he added.
The locals appealed the SMC Commissioner, Sheikh Mushtaq to look into the matter.
