JKLF (R) for shutdown on July 13

Srinagar: The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (R) chairman, Farooq Ahmad Dar alias Bitta Karatey and senior vice-chairman, Javid Ahmad Mir, have called for complete shutdown on July 13, urging people to visit all the martyrs’ graveyards on the day and reaffirm oath to take the martyrs’ mission to its logical end.
The Front leaders were addressing a meeting of party members at its headquarters here in connection with the observance of Martyrs’ Day. They said, the people would on July 13, express solidarity with the families of those lodged in different jails and send memoranda to the international human rights organizations highlighting the rights ‘abuses’ taking place in Kashmir.
Front leaders said the martyrs had not offered sacrifices for power and celebration of Kashmir carnival. They said real objective of observing July 13, as Martyrs’ Day was to reaffirm oath to continue struggle till the achievement of freedom. “It was the armed struggle and not any political party or platform that made the whole world aware about the Kashmir issue,” they said, adding “the July 13, is the most important day in the Kashmir history and mainstream parties have always used it for negative politics.”
The meeting was also attended by Tahir Ahmad Mir, Rasakh Khursheed Dar, and Wajahat Qureshi Shingloo.
