Strategies To Check Road Accidents Discussed
Udhampur, July 8: To chalk out ways and means for minimizing the causes of frequent road accidents taking place on different routes of erstwhile Doda district and along Highway, the House Committee (HC) constituted by the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly headed by its Chairman, M Y Tarigami convened a meeting of senior officers at Patnitop here today.
Tarigami said that the repeated road accidents in Doda, Kistwar, Ramban and Udhampur districts is a grave concern for all of us. He said that it is a situation which demands immediate results and attention of all of us especially the officers of transport, traffic police, Beacons etc to put forward their departmental specific assignment of the causes responsible for causing accidents in these hilly districts.
Appreciating the suggestions put forth by senior officers of different departments, Tarigami said that the issue needs to be deliberated on wider canvas for formulation of comprehensive report. The report, he said has to be practical, scientific indicating pragmatic measures to check the incidence of frequent misshapes for once and for all. He also asked the concerned Deputy Commissioners to conduct monthly review of accidental cases happening in their respective jurisdictions to work out the future strategy for minimizing the accidents.
