Army Chief concludes Valley visit

Srinagar, June 9: Army Chief Gen VK Singh, concluded his two day visit to the Valley Thursday.
During his visit, the Army Chief was briefed by GOC 15 Corps Lt Gen SA Hasnain, on the prevailing security situation in the Valley and along the Line of Control (LoC), a defence spokesman Lt Col JS Brar said.

Gen Singh, according to the spokesman, also interacted with civil dignitaries and senior police officers at an informal gathering at Victor Force headquarters. “The Army chief was appreciative of and endorsed the initiatives taken by the Chinar Corps towards building rapport with the people,” the spokesman said and added that the Army chief exhorted the rank and file to implement in letter and spirit ‘Heart as the Weapon’ philosophy enunciated by the Chinar Corps.
The visit was homecoming for the Army Chief as he has commanded Victor Force in 2004-05, added the spokesman. In this context the Chief released a Coffee Table Book ‘Pillars of the Valley’, compiled by Victor Force, on the journey of the formation since its raising.
