Green Citizen Awards presented

Srinagar, June 9: As part of the World Environment Week celebrations the Directorate of Ecology, Environment & Remote Sensing in association with Rahim Greens and SAVE (NGO) on Thursday organised a daylong awareness camp and also felicitated people from various walks of life for their contribution towards the environment conservation.
 The hosts distributed Green Citizen Awards, comprising of a citation, among this year’s winners who included Dr Farooq Ahmed Kaloo, Chief Executive Officer Livestock Development Board, Kashmir, poet Zareef Ahmad Zareef of Valley Citizens Forum, Advocate Nadeem Qadri, Dr Iqbal Ahmad Hakim of Kashmir University, Mian Javed Ahmad, Director, Environment, Ecology and Remote Sensing.
 The awards were presented jointly by S Balbir Singh, Chairman SAVE and Abdul Hameed CEO of Rahim Greens.
 Earlier Dr F A Kaloo gave a brief presentation on importance of saving paper by preserving data on data storage devices. He also spoke about garbage disposal and organic farming.
 Advocate Nadeem Qadri also spoke on the occasion.  Among others who were present on the occasion included Dr Nighat Ara and Dr Sabiya Majid of Women’s College M A Road.
