Jammu, June 10: While former National Conference legislator and his brother, arrested for their alleged involvement in infamous Chopra Murder Case, were sent to five days police remand by a local court, here today, at least four police officers, including 2 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs) have come under scanner and are likely to be detained for investigation.
Well informed sources, privy to the developments, claimed that the Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing the murder case of Cement Tycoon Rajinder Bhushan Chopra, his wife Madhu Chopra, daughter Solani Chopra, driver Jagan Nath and domestic help Sonu, have also zeroed in on some police officers for allegedly playing a crucial role in destruction of the evidence immediately after the incident.
“We are probing their role after their names figured during the investigation”, sources said. “The police officers are on our list of suspects and they may be called for questioning”.
Meanwhile, the SIT produced the accused Ex-MLC Tirloochan Singh Wazir alias Tallo and his brother Ajab Singh, before the Special Municipal Mobile Magistrate Jammu, seeking their 15-days custodial remand.
The court, after hearing the prosecution and perusing the application as well as case dairy, granted 5-days remand to the police.
On a prayer by the accused T S Wazir, the court directed the Investigation Officer to get him examined by a specialist doctor.
While disposing off the application, the court observed that the accused have been arrested for offences U/Ss 302/396/120-B, 109/201 RPC of P/S Bahu Fort Jammu. “Keeping in view of the nature of allegations and stage of investigation, the court is of the opinion it has no good ground to reject the applications as such, same is allowed.”
