Delhi University VC delivers lecture at KU
Srinagar, June 11: Noted professor of mathematics and Vice- Chancellor University of Delhi Prof Dinesh Singh on Saturday delivered an extension lecture on Higher Education in 21st Century at Kashmir University, the KU spokesman said.
“Education,” Prof Dinesh said, “is a journey to discover ones true self.”
He said there is “no connection between a formal degree with a good education.”
Quoting examples of great scientists, cricketers and film actors, the DU VC said such people have “changed the course of history with their great inventions ,discoveries and other skills when they moved outside the four walls of classrooms and found time for independent and creative thinking.”
“We should let our children to listen to the call of their heart and help them breathe free to grow up and evolve in life,” he added.
“Our universities have to open up, break the barriers and get connected with the societies,” he added.
The KU VC Prof Talat Ahmad in his brief address thanked the guest for visiting the varsity adding that they would soon sign an MOU for research and student exchange.
Prof M A Sofi Head Department of mathematics and former dean academics KU was also present on the occasion.
