Ruhullah lays foundation of 2-road projects in Budgam

Budgam, June 11: Minister for Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, today laid foundation of two road projects at Thokerpora and Itchgam in this central Kashmir district, an official spokesman.
The 3.50 kms Thokerpora-Budbagh-Choon road costs Rs. 1.74 crore and 3.50 kms Ichgam- Naroo-Gadsalhoo road project costs Rs 1.79 crore would be constructed under NABARD and would benefit more than 20,000 souls of ten villages on its completion.
Addressing the gathering at Thokerpora, the Minister said the government was committed to provide all basic amenities to the people of the state adding that bringing improvement in existing basic facilities is high on the agenda of the Government.
Ruhullah said the construction of road was long pending demand of the people of the area adding that all other genuine demands of the locals would also be fulfilled in phased manner. He said the area was neglected by previous Government, adding that Omar led Government has planned to ensure equitable development of areas and provision of basic amenities to the people irrespective of their political affiliation.
Responding to demands, the Minister said five tube wells would be constructed at Thokerpora, Zoorbagh and Budbagh to augment the water supply position in these villages till a major water supply scheme is approved by the Government.
He said a doctor will be deputed to visit the villages thrice a week till a permanent veterinary hospital is established in the area. He said the matter regarding setting up of Anganwari centre would be taken up with concerned Ministry.
Later, a large number of people met the Minister at Naroo and apprised him about the problems being confronted them. He said their genuine demands would be looked into sympathetically. He said Government has devised massive development plans to develop the rural areas at par with urban areas.
