Gujjars demand Tribal University for JK

Srinagar, June 12: Demanding   establishment of a ‘Tribal University’ in Jammu and Kashmir , the  Gujjars – a major Scheduled Tribe community today sought the intervention of  Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh and Union Minister for Human Resources , Kapil Sibal to resolve this long pending issue  .
The Gujjars through  Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation-a frontal organisation of community ,  sent two separate memorandums to Prime Minister and HRD Minister, dully signed by all the dignitaries of Scheduled Tribe communities of State.
In these documents,   it has been urged that there is an urgent need to promote studies and research in tribal art, culture, tradition, language, custom, medicinal systems, forest based economic activities, including special studies in the flora and fauna, and advancements in technologies relating to natural resources of the tribal areas of the state and establishment of a Tribal University can cater  all these demands.
