JKFMAC'S CULTURAL FESTIVAL CONCLUDES

Srinagar, June 13: The four day cultural festival hosted by Jammu Kashmir Film Makers and Artists Cooperative Ltd (JKFMAC) concluded in the City Monday.
 “Over 42  artistes from different parts of the Valley  enthralled the audience  during the festival,” a JKFMAC spokesman said.
 The festival, he said, was held in collaboration with the Tourism department. 
 “It is for the first time that such a festival was held in open air at Zabarvan Park, Boulevard and Nand Park at Bagwanpora in down town Srinagar.” People said the open-air venue of the festival added to the charm.
 “Hundreds of people were present in the spacious lawn at Zabarvan Park where the stage was set for the performances of the singers,” the JKFMAC spokesman said.
 ”33 artists led by  Gulzar Ahmad Ganai, Ghulam Ahmad Sofi, Farooq Ahmad Ganai, Abdul Gaffar Kanihami and Shazia Bashir performed during the festival.”
 On the occasion the famous folk and Sufi singer of Kashmir Gulzar Ahmad Ganai said he was elated at the public response. Gulzar’s performance  was followed by  presentation of famous mystic poet Rehman Dar’s Sheshrang,  which received thunderous applause from the audience whereas Abdul Gaffar Kanihami’s  performance was equally liked.
 “By organizing such  cultural events JKFMAC is not only promoting all types of  performing arts, but also encourages, supports and promotes local artistes from all over the state by providing them such a massive platform,” the hosts said.
 Meanwhile the JKFMAC is holding a 10 day Comedy Drama Festival at SKICC in Srinagar from June 25 to July 4 2011.
