Srinagar, June 14: If the government figures are anything to go by, the Valley is flush with foodgrain stocks.
 The buffer stocks of foodgrains comprising 2,13,991 qtls rice, 14930 qtls wheat and 3230 qtls sugar are available with Food Corporation of India and Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CA&PD) in the Valley.
 The stocks are in their godowns at Lethpora and Mirbazaar, Islamabad (Anantnag) for catering to the requirements of the consumers of Kashmir division.
 This information was given out to the Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Qamar Ali Akhoon during his inspection to these godowns today.
 The Minister was told that during current month till date 1,18,876 quintals of foodgrains and 181 quintals of sugar were dispatched to various destinations for onwards distribution to the consumers, an official statement said.
 While taking stock of quality of the food grains being supplied to the consumers, Akhoon stressed on the functionaries of FCI and CA&PD to ensure maintenance of quality of foodgrains adding that sub standard food grains should be returned to the concerned agencies.
 The Minister was accompanied by Director CAPD, Kashmir Abdul Wahid Tak, District Development Commissioner, Islamabad (Anantnag), Kifayat Hussain Rizvi and officers of CAPD and FCI during his tour.
