VCC to file ‘criminal suit’ against Chattabal Wier breach

Srinagar, June 14: Following breach in the newly constructed Weir on Jhelum near Chattabal, the Valley Citizen Council had decided to file a “criminal case against the project executing agency.”
 “Crores of rupees were recently spent on the construction of the new structure and it has collapsed. This is height of corruption and the matter needs to be probed,” the VCC Secretary General Imdad Saki said.
 Pertinently the recent rains collapsed the structure causing extensive damage to the barrier constructed after spending Rs 7.5 Crore. 
 The Wier collapse has put a question mark both on the credibility of engineers and the material used for the construction of multi-crore barrier.
