Bakers fined for underweight bread
Srinagar, June 17: Around a dozen traders, including five bakers were fined for allegedly selling underweight local bread in the City.
An official handout said: “In response to a public complaints, the field executives of Legal Metrology department conducted surprise inspection of Mehjoor Nagar, Padshahi Bagh, Balgarden and Karan Nagar areas and booked about one dozen erring traders for violating Packaged Commodities Rules.”
“In Mehjoor Nagar locality, a trader had smudged the label on the soft drinks for which he was fined Rs 4000/= on the spot,” it added.
“Five bakers were fined for keeping underweight chut/ chuchwaroo.”
Meanwhile the department has asked the consumers to file their complaints on 0194-2430589.
