Hurriyat (G) condemns Geelani’s house arrest
Srinagar: Hurriyat (G) has flayed the State government for once again placing its chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani under house on Friday, terming it condemnable.
“Omar Abdullah has failed to compete politically the pro-freedom leadership. Now he (Omar), like his father and grandfather, is making them target of his political reprisal,” said the Hurriyat spokesman, Ayaz Akbar in a statement, adding that by placing Geelani under house arrest every now and then, the government was ‘heaping insult’ on the State’s constitution and laws.
Meanwhile, Hurriyat has expressed concern over the growing social evils and moral waywardness in the society.
“Geelani believes that imams of Masajid can play a key role in eradicating the menace. The amalgam has, therefore, called a meeting of all Imams of Valley on June 22, in which a strategy will be chalked to check the social evils,” he said.
