Police register case
KILLING OF BEARS
SHAHID RAFIQ
Kupwara, June 17: Police today registered a case against the killing of three black bears at Sogam Lolab here on Tuesday night.
After a formal letter from Wildlife Warden North Kashmir, police registered a case vide FIR No-32/2011 under sections 2/51 of wildlife protection Act. “We have started investigations into the killing of these bears, but so far we have not received post mortem report from animal husbandry department,” SHO Sogam, Parvaiz Ahmad told Greater Kashmir.
Wildlife Warden North Kashmir, Abdul Rouf said the missing of visceral organs from the bodies of bears indicates that it was the handiwork of some high profile poachers. “We are preparing a list of poachers of the district which shall be soon handed over to police.”
