80% polling in 16th phase

Srinagar, June 18: The 16th phase of Panchayat Election-2011 concluded on Saturday with 79.83 per cent electorate exercising their right to franchise, an official spokesman said.
The election was held in 10 Sarpanch and 65 Panch constituencies in CD block Gurez district Bandipore, 10 Sarpanch and 64 Panch constituencies in CD block Tulail district Bandipore, 9 Sarpanch and 69 Panch constituencies in CD block Taisura district Kargil, 14 Sarpanch and 88 Panch constituencies in CD block Drass district Kargil, 9 Sarpanch and 59 Panch constituencies in CD block Shargole district Kargil, 16 Sarpanch and 102 Panch constituencies in CD block Khaltsi district Leh and 04 Sarpanch and 24 Panch constituencies in CD block Suspol district Leh, the spokesman said.
 The poll percentage remained 73.54 per cent in Gurez, 83.01 per cent in Tulail, 90 per cent in Taisura, 81.87 per cent in Drass, 90.30 per cent in Shargole, 70 per cent in Khaltsi and 70.68 per cent in Suspol with an overall percentage of 79.83 per cent in all these blocks.
