Dr Abdullah for India-Germany cooperation in renewable energy

New Delhi, June 1: Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Dr Farooq Abdullah has appreciated the efforts of Germany in the field of renewable energy, even as stressing the need for greater cooperation between the two countries in this direction.
He was speaking to Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal German Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, Katherina Reiche, who called on him here on Tuesday.
Reiche is a member of the German delegation to India led by Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel.
While welcoming Reiche in his office, Dr. Abdullah appreciated the large scale deployment of solar energy systems, especially on the rooftops of houses in Germany.
He highlighted the problem of lack of electricity and access to energy in remote areas in India and the efforts undertaken to address the issue.
He, according to an official statement, said there is a large scope for greater cooperation between the two countries in the field of renewable energy resources, technologies, manpower, etc.
Reiche while appreciating India’s efforts in the field of renewable energy invited Dr. Abdullah to the Inter-Solar Photovoltaic Fair in Germany scheduled to begin from June 8.
