Govt to organize KPL this month: R S Chib
Srinagar, June 1: The Minister for Youth Services and Sports, RS Chib on Wednesday said that the Department of Youth Service and Sports will organize Kashmir Premier League (KPL) (cricket) in the month of June in valley.
This was stated by the Minister while speaking at the valedictory function of volleyball tournament at Charar-i- Sharief, an official handout said.
The Minister stressed the need for massive participation of youth in sports activities, adding that discipline, sportsmanship and team spirit is the outcome of the efforts put in by the youth while participating in sports activities, handout said.
The inter district under -19 divisional level school games tournament was organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports in which 11 teams from the Kashmir division participated. The final match was played between Budgam and Islamabad (Anantnag) which was won by Anantnag, handout further said.
The Minister said that youth of the State have great potential and need is to channelize it in the right perspective by providing required sports infrastructure. He said the State and Central Government with collective efforts are working in these directions.
Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Rafi Ahmed highlighted the importance of sports activities and said that it plays vital role in harmonious development of the youth. He said extra-curricular activities have to be introduced in education institutions to encourage the youth.
