JKLF (R) surprised at Cohen’s remarks
Srinagar, June 1: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (R) chief patron and Kashmir Centre Brussels executive director, Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo, has expressed surprise over the statement of leading American expert on South Asia and author of “The Idea of Pakistan” Stephen P Cohen that “the India-Pakistan conflict would last for 100 years.”
“America itself wants to defuse tension between India and Pakistan and stresses for immediate resolution of Kashmir issue through talks to avoid any nuclear confrontation in the south Asia. But Stephen Cohen’s statement has dashed the hope for peace of crores of people living in south Asia,” said Tramboo, according to Front statement, exuding optimism that the US would continue to evince its keen interest to resolve Kashmir issue as it had done in case of other international issues for the past 50 years.
Meanwhile, Tramboo has alleged that the State Government was unjustifiably prolonging the detention of detainees. He alleged that the detainees were not being released despite court orders.
He said the incarcerated pro-freedom leaders including Er Farooq Khan, Aasia Andrabi, Gen Musa, G N Sumji, Muhammad Rafiq Ganai, Ghulam Qadir Bhat, Masrat Alam, Muhammad Qasim, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Fahmida Sofi, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Muhammad Rafiq Ganai, Abdul Gani Goni and Muhammad Lateef Waja had been undergoing detention for a long time, demanding their immediate release.
