Pvt Hajj, Umrah operators call on Ajaz

Srinagar, June 1: A delegation of representatives of private Hajj and Umrah companies today called on the Minister for Hajj & Auqaf and Fisheries, Ajaz Ahmad Khan and apprised him about their activities and issues coming in the way of conducting their operations. The Minister told the delegation that Government is very keen to improve upon the facilities related to Hajj operations. He sought their feedback on further making the arrangements pilgrim convenient and hassle free. He said the Government has taken up, already, with the Centre the issue of operating direct flights from Srinagar to Jeddah and will be following the issue vigorously.
Responding to the problems brought to his notice by them, the Minister assured the delegation that he will take up the matter of allotment of Hajj quota to private tour operators of the State with the Minister for External Affairs and ensure that proper quota as per entitlement is released in their favour.
Ajaz asked the delegation to provide a list of intending pilgrims going for Hajj through their sponsorship to the Government so that appropriate facilities are made ready for them well in time. He said the Director, Airports Authority will be asked to provide praying facilities at Srinagar airport for Hajjis going through private tour operators for which he asked them to provide a list of intending pilgrims to the Hajj authorities well in advance.
