Complete Rawathpora community hall by July: Nasir
Srinagar, June 19: Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Nasir Aslam Wani has asked the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) to complete the construction of Community Hall at Rawathpora Baghat by July. The Community Hall is being constructed at a cost of Rs 60 lakh.
Nasir issued the direction during his inspection of ongoing development projects taken up by different departments in the area. He was told that the work on the 2nd storey of the Community Hall was apace and assured that the project be completed within the targeted period.
During inspection, the Minister asked the Executive Engineer PHE for early renovation of water supply scheme at Rawathpora and Khan Mohalla, Baghat at an earliest for which Rs. 29 lakh had been released.
Taking note of slow pace of certain ongoing developmental projects in the area, Nasir asked all the executive agencies to expedite the construction works and said the required funds had already been released for their early completion. He also directed for upgradation of the 2.5 kilometer long road Kushipora Baghat and asked for renovation of street lights.
At Parraypora, Nasir directed the UEED for construction of Main holes of the drain for which he said that funds will be released out of his Constituency Development Fund. He also released Rs 2 lakh out of Constituency Development Fund for the fencing of the graveyard at Majeed Bagh Baghat.
Geelani condoles demise
Srinagar, June 19: Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani has expressed sorrow over the demise of the brother of the conglomerate’s leader Muhammad Shafi Lone. In a statement, Hurriyat spokesman, Ayaz Akbar said, Geelani talked to the bereaved family over phone and expressed his condolence. Meanwhile, the amalgam has called a meeting of religious clerics on June 22 at Hyderpora to devise a strategy for tackling the social evils in the society. Akbar said the Ulema and Imams would suggest the measures for eradicating evils during the meet.
