Mir Steel Rolling Mill a welcome initiative: CM

Srinagar, June 19: Hailing Chairman, Mir Steel Rolling Mill, Mir Ghulam Mohiuddin and its Managing Director, Shafiq Ahmad Mir for setting up first of its kind a mega steel plant in the Valley, chief minister Omar Abdullah while inaugurating the unit at Lassipora on Saturday said it was a matter of delight not just for the Mir Family but for the entire state.
The chief minister said this unit will not only help tackle the unemployment in J&K, it will reduce the dependence of J&K on import of cement.
He said the unit shall also ensure unhindered supply of raw material in the shape of cement for the local developmental works.
The chief minister also hailed J&K Bank which he said was financing the industrial units in J&K.
He urged the youth to focus on other areas, outside government sector, for which he said the J&K Bank will finance them.
The chief minister also called for immediate construction of roads leading to the Lassipora Industrial Estate. He said roads play an important role in helping the industry.
Pertinently, the Steel Rolling Plant has been constructed at a cost of over Rs. 32 crore. It has a capacity of processing 300 tones steel per day. It will provide employment to more than 500 locals.
