Panchayat polls milestone in JK history: Rana
Jammu, June 19: CM’s political advisor, Devender Singh Rana today said the successful conduct of Panchayat polls in the J&K was a milestone in the democratic history of State.
Addressing the elected Sarpanches of Nagrota constituency here, Rana said the elections were a big leap towards transparency and accountability and a tribute to the ‘visionary’ leadership of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah.
Rana urged them to rise above all the political, social and religious considerations and work for the welfare of the people who elected them. He said a strong Panchayati Raj would ensure a better delivery system at the grass root level and shall ensure a stable, accountable and a transparent system. He said the State was passing through an era of “unprecedented development and growth and it was the responsibility of all to facilitate the process for the welfare of the State and its people.”
Rana also facilitated many Sarpanches on the occasion.
NC Provincial president, Rattan Lal Gupta Haji, Muhammad Hussain Ex MLC, Ch. Arshad Provincial, Som Nath Khajuria and Kuldip Singh Jamwal were also present.
