Cong MP faces wrath of party colleagues

Kishtwar, June 20: Senior Congress leader and Member Parliament (MP) from Udhampur-Kathua parliamentary constituency Choudary Lal Singh had to face the wrath of his party colleagues here on Monday, sources told Greater Kashmir.
They said that his colleagues blamed him for alleged debacle of the party in the recently held Panchayat elections in Kishtwar constituency and accused him of being non-serious towards his constituency, which he has visited only once. “Only one group, having close proximity with MLA Inderwal and believed to be anti-Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Prof Saifu-ud-Din Soz was invited to the meeting,” sources added.
They said two different groups of the same faction, one led by M A Malik, a retired police officer, and another by Jughal Bhandari, who had contested the last assembly elections unsuccessfully from Kishtwar, clashed with each other over the poor performance of the party in the Panchayat polls.
The workers, eyewitnesses said, leveled allegations and counter allegations on each other and even did not spare the MP, who was chairing the meeting. “It is unfortunate that you have not visited this area even once since you were elected,” one of the worker reportedly told Singh, who had to leave the meeting in a huff.
