Mughal Road

his refers to Mehbooba Mufti’s statement that the work on historical Mughal Road needs to be expedited. The concerned implementing agency needs to be pulled up for delaying work on the project. There seem to be more political reasons to the delay than financial or anything else. Isn’t the government interested in completing the project which was started by the PDP? Or it doesn’t want Kashmir to be connected to Pir Panchal areas? The Government must come clean on the issue and answer why the Road missed deadlines after deadlines. The PDP president is right in saying that completion of the road can give fillip to tourism sector in Kashmir. Road connectivity is must for promoting tourism and cultural exchanges. The Muzaffarbad Road is also not opened for people as had been promised by the National Conference. Similar is the case with other vital Road links in Kashmir. The Chief Minister should take personal interest in ensuring completion of Mughal Road.
