Traffic mess

This refers to the deteriorating traffic scenario in the Valley. It has become extremely difficult to ply through the streets of Srinagar. Everywhere there is traffic jam. This is because the roads are too narrow and the number of vehicles has increased to a great extent. The Chief Minister Omar Abdullah recently expressed anger over the delay in construction of Hyuderpora flyover. The anger has made little impact on ground because the construction agency is yet to complete the work. The project has started long back. If such is the pace of projects, it is better not to initiate them because they cause more inconvenience than convenience. Another issue is the Traffic Police Department itself. The department has miserably failed to devise measures to ease congestion on the city roads. Moulana Azad road and Ram Bagh road have become a nightmare for drivers and the people. There is no regulation of traffic. It is better if the department gets active and ensures proper regulation of traffic.
