Hajni Day observed in Bandipora
TARIQ RASOOL
(Hajin) Bandipora, June 25: Hajini Day was observed here in the memory of Prof Mohi-ud-Din Hajini with poets and writers stressing on development of Kashmiri language, art and culture.
The function was organized by the Halqi Adab Sonwari (HAS) in which a galaxy of writers, intellectuals, poets and locals participated. The function was presided over by MLC and prominent writer Muhammad Yousuf Teng.
Retired Justice Bashir Ahmed Kirmani, who was the Chief Guest, impressed for spreading Hajini philosophy to the other parts of the state to aware people about his teachings.
During the function, Muhammad Yusuf Teng and Secretary Cultural Academy Zaffer Manhas, who was the guest of honour, had to face strong resentment from the writers and poets.
“Kashmiri language and culture is being destabilized by halting funds to the Cultural Academy under a hidden conspiracy,” the writers and poets told them.
On the occasion, Dr Aziz Hajini condemned the “biased” attitude of the Academy towards the development of Kashmiris language.
“From last three years, the Academy is not coming forward to develop the language .Though its sole responsibility is to help literary organizations in conducting the literary functions,” he said.
In his address, Zaffar Iqbal Manhas said that the basic aim of organizing such functions should be to carry forward the message of the great literary figures. He said that there is a need to compile the works of Prof. Hajni.
On the occasion, Khilate Hajini was conferred upon veteran writer, poet and critic Prof. Muhammad Zaman Azurdah for his contribution to Kashmiri and Urdu literatures.
