Government stops rafting in Sonamarg

Jammu, June 27: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has stopped rafting in the river Sindh in tourist resort Sonamarg, where two young women died when their boat capsized on Saturday.
 According to highly placed official sources, this decision was taken on the intervention of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who was "very sad" on learning about the death of two young women while rafting in the Sindh river. The rapids of Sindh river and huge boulders are considered risky for adventure sports in the river.
 Pertinently, rafting was launched with great fanfare in Sonamarg in 2009. IANS
