TMC on Clean Milk Production Scheme approves action plan
Srinagar, June 28: The high powered Technical Monitoring Committee on the centrally sponsored Quality & Clean Milk Production scheme in its first ever meeting on Tuesday approved the installation of 14 Bulk Milk Coolers or BMC in the state during the current fiscal.
Under the scheme, a 5000 litres capacity BMC will be installed at Bijbehara and two 3000 Litres capacities each BMCs will be installed at Khour in Jammu and Narwal in Budgam. Similarly 2000 litres capacity BMCs will be installed in Arwah, Budgam, Jandwal Pulwama, Mahind Sirhama, Hariparigam Tral; Yal Pattan and Khalisa Sonawari in Kashmir Division during the year. Another five BMCs of 2000 Litres capacity each will be installed at Akhnoor, Ramgarh, Samba, Mirajpur and Phalian in Jammu Division. A total of 31 BMCs are being installed under the scheme in a phased manner to help farmers in getting remunerative prices for their produce and to save them from incurring losses due to curdling.
The meeting was chaired by B D Sharma, Com/Secretary Animal & Sheep Husbandry Department and among others who participated included Dr Muhammad Deen, Chairman JKMPCL, Dr C S Sahukar Dy Advisor Planning Commission, Dr S K Sharma, Asstt Commissioner, DAHD&F, H P Rathod from Amul, Dr R P Hans, Dr S L Tickoo, Dr F A Kaloo from Animal Husbandry Department, Javed Iqbal Mattoo and DR S A Khan from ASH D, Dinesh Choudry CEO JKMPCL. While Dr Deen gave a resume of the activities of the JKMPCL, B D Sharma discussed the modalities of the scheme.
The meeting also decided to install Automated Milk Collection Systems at the 31 places alongside the BMCs. The meeting also approved training and awareness generation under the scheme proposed by the JKMPCL. The committee also approved purchase of milk cans, and utensils and detergents etc under the programme for supply to farmers associated with dairy milk cooperatives. The GOI rep asked the JKMPCL to formulate similar plan for uncovered districts. The committee also decided to set up milk testing Labs at society level and district levels besides using AH Department facility at Zakura.
