WIPRO holds placement drive at KU campus
Srinagar, June 28: A day-long placement drive was organized by the Directorate of IT & SS, University of Kashmir in collaboration with WIPRO Technology Ltd. for WIPRO Academy of Software Excellence (WASE) programme here on Tuesday.
The programme was attended by the Vice-Chancellor, University of Kashmir, Prof Talat Ahmad, Registrar Prof Syed Fayyaz Ahmad and Director IT & SS, Dr. (Er.) Mehraj-Ud-Din Dar besides other officers of the Directorate.
The Vice-Chancellor welcomed the WIPRO team in University of Kashmir and encouraged the students to show their best performance in the placement process.
More than 200 students from various colleges had registered online at the IT&SS website.
A written test was conducted whose results were announced within 15 minutes. The interviews were conducted in the campus by the visiting team from WIPRO including its Head, Fresher Hiring Vaibhav Dalal and Project Manager Ovais Chishti.
Interacting with the vice-chancellor, Dalal acknowledged the potential of the students. "Normally in the south we get about 6% success (of final selection) from amongst those who qualify the written test. But here it is more than 50%."
According to KU spokesman, the students selected would be informed through email within two weeks after all their documents are verified at WIPRO in Bangalore.
