GPO will have Export Centre soon
Will help handicraft, saffron exporters: Samuel
INSTANT MONEY TRANSFER SERVICE LAUNCHED
MOAZUM MUHAMMAD
Srinagar, June 2: Chief Post Master General, J&K Circle, John Samuel today said the General Post Office Srinagar would soon flag off an ‘Export Centre’ for sending consignments abroad.
Samuel said the Centre would highly prove helpful for people sending their handicraft, saffron and other allied products to different parts across the globe.
“Exporters will be benefited by this service. All necessary equipment such as X-ray and scanner machines are in place,” said Samuel, who launched the ‘Instant Money Transfer Service’ here today.
The Service, according to him, would enable people here to send money to any person in any part of the country and even abroad, where the recipient will get it within ten minutes.
He said the Service was essential in Kashmir, it being a top tourist place.
He said the Service will be available at 27 Post Offices in the Valley. “This is the easiest way to transfer money from one place to another. Not only in India, even one can send money to foreign countries and the money will be transferred quickly to the recipient.”
Samuel said: “The GPO on the Bund side will house a stationery shop on the lines of departmental store in the next two months. This shop will provide all the facilities under one roof.”
Briefing the media persons, he said the facility ‘On-call Collection’ for courier services would also be rolled out in Srinagar from Monday. “There will be no extra charges on the collection of articles/courier from the address of the client.”
He said the client has just to ring up the GPO and an official will be sent to that place.
