Traffic cops ‘thrash’ school staffer

Srinagar, June 29: Feroz Ahmed, the Secretary to Burn Hall school was allegedly roughed up by traffic cops outside the school premises at Sonawar Wednesday afternoon.
The school management said the trouble erupted when the traffic cops asked the school buses to temporarily stay back due to VIP movement outside.
“On getting complaints from parents that their wards hadn’t reached back home he (Feroz) came out to inquire about the restrictions from the traffic cops,” they said adding in no time cops pounced on Feroz and beat him.
The victim said he was only inquiring about the issue from the cops. “But they got annoyed and started beating him while their officer also flexed his muscles,” he said.
The school has filed a complaint with the Traffic police.
But the SP Traffic Srinagar Maqsood Ul Zaman refuted that the school staffer was roughed up.
“There was only some argument between the two,” the SP said adding that the buses had been halted for a short while to facilitate VIP movement.
“There was no physical assault at all,” he added.
