Sopore observes shutdown

Sopore, June 4: Complete shutdown was observed on the second consecutive on Saturday in north Kashmir’s Sopore area against the killing of three Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants.

 Two among the three slain militants hailed from Sopore.

 All shops, educational institutions, banks and financial institutions, petrol pumps remained closed for second consecutive day to protest the killings, even as no pro-freedom group or militant outfit had called for the strike.

 However, thin transport plied on the roads. At several places people chanted pro-freedom slogans. Authorities had deployed battle fatigued CRPF and policemen in strength to thwart any incident.
