Kupwara Premier League concludes
Kupwara, June 6: The Kupwara Premier League concluded at Nutnusa Higher School ground, Kupwara on Sunday.
The event had commenced on May 19 and in it eight teams of District Kupwara participated.
The teams were selected based on regional affiliations and represented Tangdhar, Karnah, Machal, Lolab, Handwara, Drugmulla, Trehgam and Kupwara blocks. Matches were played on league cum knockout basis.
The locals had gathered in large number to witness the final match between Kupwara Kings and Trehgam Bulls. Kupwara King’s impregnable batting line put up a massive target of 220 for Trehgam Bulls. Trehgam Bulls were no match for the Kupwara Kings and faltered from the first over. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were meekly wrapped up for 128for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs.
General Officer Commanding, Vajr Division, DC Kupwara and SP Kupwara attended the finals. At the end of the match, a prize distribution was held and both the teams were awarded medals and cash prizes. The Vajr Cup was lifted by Kupwara Kings. Shabir Ahmad of Kupwara Kings was adjudged as man of the match.
