‘Nine more IEs coming up shortly in Kashmir’
Srinagar, June 7: Stating that the State is marching towards a big industrial revolution, the Minister for Industries and Commerce, S.S. Slathia today said that the number of re-functional industrial units registered have reached all time high to 12600 units by March 2011 providing employment to about 50000 people. He said the number of units established during last fiscal under Village and Small Scale sectors alone have reached to the tune of 658 with an investment of Rs 65.77 crore.
Speaking at a performance review meeting of the Industries and Commerce Department Kashmir division here, the Minister said that Government has flagged industrial development as priority in the State to provide job opportunities to the burgeoning number of unemployed youth.
“The entrepreneurs are provided all the possible incentives both under central and State Industrial policies and efforts are underway to create a congenial industrial atmosphere by developing new Industrial Estates in every nook and corner of the State”, Slathia said adding that nine more new Industrial Estates at Kahnmoh phase-III Ompora Budgam, Vessui in Anantnag, Kulgam, Chatipora Handwara, Phyang leh, Khaltsi Leh, Rengreth and Ashmuju Kulgam are proposed to be developed shortly for which about 2712 kanals of land have already been acquired at these places.
