Cong ministers pitch in for VC from JK to head CU Jammu

New Delhi, June 7: Three senior Congress leaders and ministers in Omar Abdullah led Coalition have pitched in for local vice-chancellor to head Central University Jammu.
 Minister for Education Peerzada Muhammad Sayed, Minister for Technical Education and Youth services R S Chib and Minister for Higher Education Abdul Gani Malik met Union Minister for Human Resource and Development Kapil Sibal during 58th meeting of Central Advisory Board of Education here and urged him to appoint Vice Chancellor from the state for the Central University of Jammu, an official statement said.
 The statement also added that Sayeed at the meeting stressed the need to make enact a law to prohibit unfair practices in schools, even as he welcomed National Vocational Education qualification frame work.
 He said J&K State has chalked out a comprehensive skilled development programme in consonance with skill Development Mission of Government of India, adding the programme has already taken off.
 He made a strong case for enhancing unit cost of Kasturba-Gandhi Balika Vidalaya and Model School citing hill terrain inhospitable topography as reasons.
 Meanwhile, Malik in his speech highlighted the need of taking policy decision on the recommendation of Vice Chancellor’s including introduction of reforms in higher education system.
