G'bl residents continue drive against encroachments

Ganderbal, June 7: Continuing their drive against encroachments on marshy land, hundreds of residents of Saloora have dismantled the illegal structures with active support from the district administration.
 According to locals, the remaining 50 per cent encroachments were removed. “People from different walks of life including young and old people participated in the drive which was supported by district administration,” the locals said adding the police and CRPF were present to avoid any law and order problem.
 The drive, the residents said, had been initiated under the banner of Saloora Welfare Committee.
 SWC vice-chairman, Abdul Ahad said the drive against the encroachments in the district would continue. 
 We are thankful to the DC Ganderbal, Showkat Ahmad Mir, Tehsildar, Mushtaq Ahmad Bujad and other senior officials who supported us in the drive, he said.
