Prepare DPR for irrigation of karewa orchards: Mir
Srinagar, June 7: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir has directed the Chief Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control, Kashmir to prepare a project report for the irrigation of orchardists at karewa under dug well scheme.
He issued the direction while reviewing the progress of irrigation projects in Beerwa and Tangmarg constituency here today.
Mir directed them to survey these karavas and make a project at the earliest so that funds would be provided for the implementation of the project. He said by providing irrigation facilities to these areas, the horticulture and vegetable production of the area will get a big boost. This would definitely enhance the economic progress of the far off areas of the state, he added.
The Minister said that better water management in the state would pave the way for green revolution in agriculture and horticulture sector adding collective effort of the people and administration could lead towards the goal.
Mir directed the department to work round the clock to provide irrigation facilities to the farmers during this peak season particularly those farmers who are on tail end of the canals.
