2 die, 32 hurt in mishaps
Srinagar/Baramulla, Feb 28: Two persons were killed and 32 others wounded in separate road accidents across the Valley.
A truck (JK02J-8645) hit and critically injured Abdul Majeed son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din of Rambagh at Tool post Qazigund Kulgam, police said adding Abdul Majeed was shifted to the local sub-district hospital wherein he succumbed to injuries. The driver fled away from the spot, police said adding a manhunt had been launched to nab him.
Abdul Qayoom Bhat son of Muhammad Maqbool of Watlar Ganderbal who was critically wounded in a road mishap at Ahmad Nagar Soura here on February 25 succumbed at SKIMS, Soura on Monday, police said adding the body had been handed over to family for last rites.
At least 25 persons were wounded three of them critically in a road mishap near Delina Baramulla.
A bus turned turtle after colliding with a vehicle coming from the opposite side, witnesses said adding 25 passengers in both vehicles sustained injuries in the incident.
They said the critically injured Nisar Ahmed, Arif Ahmed and Farooq Ahmed were shifted to Srinagar for treatment.
A sumo (JK09-5892) collided with a truck (JK05-4828) at Rangi Pattan in Baramulla injuring Naseema wife of Azad Ahmad of Doniwara, Lolab Kupwara.
In another incident, a car (JK01B-0536) collided with another vehicle (JK05-1037) at Drangbal Awantipora injuring the car driver Muhammad Yaqoob Khan son of Ali Muhammad of Lal Bazar Srinagar and his two sons Katheeb Yaqoob and Matheeb Yaqoob.
Three persons were injured when the sumo (JK03A-9294) they were travelling in turned turtle at Thajwara Achabal in Islamabad (Anantnag), police adding the wounded had been identified as Ghulam Muhammad Bhat son of Ghulam Rasool, Muhammad Shakoora Khan son of Juna Khan of Brariangan Islamabad (Anantnag) and Thajamul Khan son of Akbar Khan of Khanpora Achabal.
TIMBER SMUGGLER HELD
Police has arrested an alleged timber smuggler seizing four sleepers from his house at Tangmarg in Baramulla.
According to police, the arrested has been identified as Muhammad Sultan Reshi son of Ghulam Qadir Reshi of Baderkote.
GIRL ATTEMPTS SUICIDE
A girl of Dolipora Budgam allegedly attempted to commit suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at her home, police said adding the girl had been hospitalized for treatment.
YOUTH CLUB MEETS HELD
Youth club meetings were held at Kokernag College and police station Dooru in the presence of Superintendent of Police, Headquarters, Islamabad (Anantnag), police said adding various youth related issues were discussed.
