Bemina residents appeal DDC Budgam

Seek Koolipora-Garipora road as alternative till new bridge comes up

GK NEWS NETWORK

SRINAGAR, Feb 28: Accusing the government for turning deaf ear to their demands, residents of Bemina Sunday threatened to launch a protest agitation if the administration fails to complete the pending development works in the area including the construction of a bridge.
A delegation of the area told Greater Kashmir that the administration was planning to remove the steel truss bridge at Garipora Bemina and construct a concrete bridge.
Removing the bridge at Garipora will cut off road connectivity to Bemina from Srinagar.
“By the time the concrete bridge comes up, we want Koolipora-Garipora road to be developed as alternative road,” they said.
They said the district administration had asked them to take Soibugh-HMT or Narkara- Ompora roads as alternatives.
“Both the routes are far off and can not be used as alternative route in case of emergency,” they added.
The residents of the area also said that despite assurance by the district administration, most of the works approved under Muharram plan have not been yet taken up in the area.
They appealed to the District Development Commissioner Budgam, Mohammad Rafi, to look into the matter to mitigate their grievances.
